Where In The World Are We

Roundup-a town with a unique name- is set near the center of the Musselshell Valley next to the Musselshell River, in South-Central Montana. The setting has long been renowned for its natural geologic design, conducive to rounding up livestock. Roundup’s beautiful setting along the Musselshell opens to the north and east to some of Montana’s vast open prairie; to the west and south to tree clad hills and mountains. Wildlife abounds in all directions.

Setting only 48 minutes north of Billings, “the Magic City”, Roundup residents have easy access to Montana’s premier city, known for great entertainment, food, and shopping. Our neighbor to the south also boasts excellent higher education facilities, healthcare and travel services.

Often only minutes away, seldom more than 2 hours away, Roundup is near some of the Big Sky Country’s great fishing, hunting, golfing, skiing, hiking, wildlife viewing, photography, horseback riding, boating, bird watching and other outdoor recreation.

Nearby are: the CM Russell Nat’l Wildlife Refuge, Fort Peck Recreation Area, Yellowtail Dam, Bighorn River, Missouri River, Yellowstone River, Lewis & Clark National Forest and James Kipp Recreation Area. Nearby points of interest include the Little Big Horn National Monument, Plenty Coups State Monument, Yellowstone National Park, Yellowtail Dam and Big Horn Reservoir, Pompeys Pillar National Monument, Big Horn Canyon National Recreation Area, and Buffalo Bill Historical Center.

Roundup is a safe, healthy environment to live, work and raise a family. Roundup boasts a great school system; hospital, emergency room and extended care facility; municipal golf course; public park with ball fields, swimming pool, tennis courts, soccer field; free campgrounds located at the fairgrounds; municipal airport; historical museum.

Old Fashioned Values and Ideals Prevail

It has often been said that the best Roundup has to offer is its genuine and friendly people. Respect and celebration of the 100 year old heritage of the town are still topics of conversation around gatherings, events and coffee groups. Though sometimes misunderstood, this real west version of neighboring and sharing is still highly valued and can’t be bought for any amount of money; only by participation.

Opportunities Abound

Whether working in the area, from the area, or commuting to other work areas, this town of nearly 2,000 provides an opportunity for a slower, safer, somewhat “laid back’, yet rich quality of life. Kids can still play out in the neighborhood. It is still safe to walk to and from school. Going for an evening walk with a friend is common. Being a good neighbor is more than just a saying.
